Meet Pankaj Shah, M.D.
Dr. Pankaj Shah has been helping patients see more clearly since 1995. He began practicing ophthalmology in Brownsville, Texas before establishing the Shah Eye Center in Mission, Texas in March, 1998.
After receiving his bachelor's degree in only three years from Rutgers University, New Jersey, Dr. Shah attended Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed a residency in ophthalmology at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. He later completed a prestigious Fellowship program in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at LSU Eye Center, Louisiana, where he trained with some of the pioneers in refractive laser surgery. In addition to serving the residents of McAllen, Brownsville, Edinburg, Harlingen, Mission, and Laredo, Texas as the valley’s Cornea and Refractive surgeon, Dr. Shah is a lecturer on the topics of LASIK, cataracts, and corneal procedures and has several publications.
Dr. Shah is a board certified ophthalmologist and a fellowship-trained refractive surgeon specializing in the cornea. He has had subspecialty training in corneal external disease and refractive surgery. Dr. Pankaj Shah treats medical and surgical problems of the eye for all ages and treats conditions like Glaucoma, Cataracts, and Diabetic Retinopathy. Dr Shah stays current with the most up-to-date options in cataract surgery offering the ReSTOR, Technis Multifocal, and Crystalens lens options for people who desire a life without glasses after surgery. He is a speaker for several pharmaceutical companies.
Meet Salvador Alcantar, O.D.
Dr. Salvador Alcantar is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. He was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a graduate of Our Lady of Our Lake University in San Antonio, Texas where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and chemistry.
Dr. Alcantar attended the University of Houston College of Optometry where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree. While at the University of Houston College of Optometry he received several recognitions including a Letter of Clinical Excellence and Grand Rounds IOP Selection. Dr. Alcantar completed his externship rotation at Charles A. Garcia and Associates in Houston and BridgeBuilders Eye Clinic in Dallas, Texas, where he gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in the areas of retinal disease, glaucoma management, post-operative cataract evaluations, contact lens fittings, and the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
Dr. Alcantar is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association, the National Optometric Association, and Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society.
Meet Carlos Diaz, M.D.
Dr. Carlos Diaz is board certified in Ophthalmology by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He focuses on the medical and surgical treatment of ocular conditions. He performs a wide array of services including ocular exams and refractions; diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Surgical services include cataract surgery with modern lenses, such as the presbyopia and astigmatism correcting intra-ocular lenses.
Our office ahs the latest diagnostic equipment and includes automated visual fields to monitor glaucoma and neurologic disease, OCT for retina and optic nerve evaluation, fundus photography and corneal topography.
Dr. Diaz has been in private practice for 8 years. His training included completed of an Ophthalmology residency at case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a 2-year fellowship in Ocular Pathology and Research at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Internship was done at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Carlos attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois and received his Bachelor's in Science at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan (Magna cum laude).
He is married to Alma Diaz and they have a daughter, Carolina (3 years old).
He is fluent in Spanish.
